This year’s Summer Reading Program theme is “Color Our World”. The program runs from Monday, June 2 through Monday, August 4. Just like last year, we’ll quite a few activities and experiences either here at the library or across the street at the Trolley Station Event Center.
Registration will be open on Saturday, May 24, or wait until May 31 and come to our kick-off event here at the library from 11 to 1. The first 40 kids to sign up for the Summer Reading Program AND attend the kick-off event will receive a drawstring tote bag. First come first served!
Right now however, we’re looking for any sort of donation from library members or local merchants to use as prizes for the children and teens to possibly win when they’ve completed reading for the summer. If you would like to donate anything a child or teen would like to win, we’d be so grateful! (Although we do ask local businesses ourselves, some might be more inclined to donate if their actual customers asked for a donation.)
What are we looking for? For teens, popular items are gift cards (Amazon, Barnes & Noble, food, pizza and gas have been very popular in the past). For kids in the 0 – 11 age range, gift certificates to “experience type” destinations, summer toys, creative kits, games, STEM kits, building kits and popular action figures/dolls are just a few of the things that appeal to the younger crowd.
Please let Ms. Jenny know if you’d like to donate something. She’s always in the library in the mornings from Monday through Thursday as she’s our Storytime superstar at 10:30 or you can call her or email her. Her email is Jcahoon@mymidlib.org and our phone number is 208-585-3931.
