SUMMER READING PROGRAM DETAILS
The Days Spent Reading Challenge program is for children ages 0 – 11.
The Nonfiction Challenge is for children 0 – 11.
The Teen Challenge is for kids 12 – 18.
The Summer Reading Program begins on Monday, June 3 and ends on Monday, August 5. We’ll have links to the registration forms when we get closer to June 1.
The Days Spent Reading will be entered once a week online. Nonfiction category reading is entered online when the child has read the appropriate number of books in each category. We provide weekly prizes as well as grand prizes to incentivize kids to read. (Tracking sheets can be picked up at the library or printed from home starting June 1.)
Grand prize winners will be randomly picked after the program ends in August.
DAYS SPENT CHALLENGE (ages 0-11) – After every week’s 5 days of reading is entered online, please come into the library to pick up a weekly prize. Each child can read as much as they like each week, but 5 days of reading must be accomplished.
NONFICTION CHALLENGE (ages 0-11) – after each category of reading has been completed and entered online, please come into the library to choose a candy bar. Each child will explore our nonfiction section and will either read 5 books per category (ages 0-6) or 10 books per category (ages 7-11).
TEEN CHALLENGE FOR KIDS 12 – 18:
Pick up a reading sheet from the library or print it from home starting on June 1. Answer one question a week about what you are reading and bring the answer into the library. Get a candy bar each week and you’ll be entered to win one of the Grand Prizes! Recommend a book for additional entries!
SUMMER READING FUN ACTIVITIES
Come back to this page closer to the start of the Summer Reading Program to see the fun events and activities we have planned this year. We will have a FREE kick-off event planned for Saturday, June 1 here at the library where the Block and Roll Lego Bus will attend. Come build cars and race your friends on their track. Or let your imagination lead you to build whatever you’d like!
